About Us

Mesilla Park Community Church is filled with people who are trying to be real. We understand that we live in a real world, with real problems, real hurts, and real hangups. So we strive for our worship, our teaching, and our lives to be filled with relevance, encouragement, authenticity, and love.

Worship Services are each Sunday at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:15. (more info)

Core Doctrines

What follows is what we believe to be the essential teachings of the Bible.  These "orthodox doctrines" are held by all churches of all denominations which are genuinely Christian.  The doctrines that are distinct to MPCC are found on our Distinctives Page.
Jesus Christ

This is the good news we've put our life and trust in:

Our Beliefs

In order to be as true to the Bible as possible and yet also open the door for cooperation with as many Christians churches and denominations as possible, we have believe it necessary to separate our doctrine into two categories:

Core Doctrines - beliefs which churches for centuries have considered to be the essentials of the Christian Faith.

Distinct Doctrines - teachings which are minor doctrines in which churches are free to differ - as long as they hold to the Core Doctrines.

The most basic message of the Christian faith is the Gospel , which tells us how a person can have a relationship with God and experience his love and forgiveness.  If you would like to experience this for yourself, please select this link:  I would like to know God personally
Our Distinctives

The Church (all believers worldwide) is diverse in belief and practice.   While agreeing on the essential doctrines, Christian churches of different denominations there are variations in areas of minor doctrines.   While we hold the following teachings with conviction, we do not consider these essentials and gladly fellowship and partner with other churches and Christians who may differ with us.
Our History

Mesilla Park Community Church, originally known as Emmanuel Baptist Church, was founded by six families in the summer of 1933 in a downtown Las Cruces movie theatre. Two years later, the church moved south of Las Cruces to a building in Mesilla Park (which belonged to a Presbyterian Church).
Our Location

The church facilities are located at 3100 Oak, Las Cruces NM.

If you're not familiar with the area, please take a look at the map below.

Be careful not to turn on Conway Street! Although it looks like it will take you to MPCC, it actually joins I-10 South. You'll then have to loop back to I-25 to get back to University Avenue.
Our Staff
Dennis Diaz
Senior Pastor

Dennis and his wife TJ have been married since 1981 and have three children Jessica, Ryan, and Tiffany.

Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from New Mexico State University and a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He has been in full-time ministry since 1980, serving with Campus Crusade for Christ/Athletes in Action, 11 years as a Youth Pastor and as Senior Pastor of Mesilla Park since 1993.  He has also been on several short term mission trips to Mexico, Sweden, Finland, and East Asia.

Besides Jesus, Dennis' passions are his family and sports.   A member of the New Mexico State University Sports Hall of Fame,  'Big D' enjoys lifting weights, playing golf, basketball, football, and racquetball, and watching any sport that isn’t played or preformed on ice.   He is a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan, remaining loyal despite their current mediocrity .  “24” is his favorite television show and he wants to be Jack Bauer when he grows up.

TJ is very active in ministry.  She has worked in youth ministry since 1981, is a deaconess, has a ministry to senior adults and has a gift of service that keeps her busy meeting the needs of others 24/7.  Outside of the church she is a substitute teacher with the Las Cruces Public Schools.  Her hobbies are animals, stained glass, woodwork and keeping Dennis in line.
